Roma Dobbins, 87, of Grinnell died Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center.
A memorial service was held Thursday, May 27, in the garden terrace at the Mayflower Community with the Rev. John Saxton, Mayflower Community chaplain, officiating. Gus Johnson, her great grandson, played the keyboard and Rosena Baumli was soloist. Burial followed in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mayflower Community.
She was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Barnard, Mo., the daughter of Ernest and Rosena Flanagan Walden. She was a graduate of Horace Mann High School in Maryville, Mo. She was united in marriage with Edward F. Dobbins on Dec. 20, 1941, in Maryville. They farmed on a family farm near Barnard for many years before moving to Grinnell in 1996.
She was a member of both the United Methodist Church and Rosanna Chapter #262, Order of the Eastern Star, in Maryville.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Knierim of Grinnell and her son Raymond Dobbins of Phnom Penh, Cambodia; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and four brothers and sisters.
