PHILIP T. SWITZER

Philip T. Switzer, 57, of Montezuma died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in Carman Center at Mayflower with the Rev. Bob Molsberry, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Pianist was Alice Renaud. Burail was in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Diamond Life Center in Montezuma or the Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 16, 1945, in Iowa Falls to Henry and Corinne Dice Switzer. His family moved to Grinnell and he graduated from Grinnell High School. He attended Ellsworth Community College in Cedar Falls, then received the bachelor of arts degree from Mankato State College, Mankato, Minn. Following his education he returned to Grinnell and worked as a night manager at the Best Western Inn-Motel operated by his parents. He later moved to the Diamond Life Center in Montezuma where he worked in the dietary department.

He was a member of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational and enjoyed reading and traveling with his family.

He is survived by his mother Corinne B. Switzer, Grinnell; one nephew, Jay Switzer, Evanston, Ill., and two nieces, Corinne (Corky) Switzer of Marsalltown and Laurie A. Pitzer, Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Jerry L. Switzer.
