WALTER AUDAS

Walter Audas, 78, of rural Malcom died Saturday, Feb. 16, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Montezuma, with the Rev. George M. Salnave officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Audas, Ricky Meppelink, Bruce Roorda, Gary Johnson, Kenny Lavent, Mike Butler, Marvin Johnson and Doug Duffy. Honorary bearers were J.C. Gates, Norman McKee, Robert Sunleaf, Marvin Bunnell, Mel Ridout, Kenny Timmons, Harry Bunnell, Claire Gregory and Dale McWilliams.

Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery, with the Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma in charge of arrangements.

The son of George and Ada Winchell Audas, he was born Oct. 30, 1912, in Malcom. He was married to Myrle Katherine Stimson on June 6, 1936, in Nashua. The family lived in the Malcom area where he farmed and, with his wife and son, operated Audas Feed and Supply in Montezuma for several years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Montezuma.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Sherry Meppelink of Montezuma and Linda Lavent of Malcom; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Mann of Indianola.

Memorials in his name may be made to Grinnell General Hospital.
