GLEN W. DILLMAN

Glen W. Dillman, age 83, of Gilman, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service was held Saturday, April 16, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. David Raymond officiating.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Ben Hansen, Matt Dillman and Josh Dillman, as well as Jason Wilson, Bob Border, and Ryan Stuck. Interment was in Prairie View Cemetery in Gilman.

Visitation was at the funeral home Friday, with the family present in the evening. Memorials may be designated to Grinnell Regional Hospice and can be sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Glen was born on March 7, 1928, in LeGrand, to Robert and Dolly Dunham Dillman. He was raised on his parents' farm near LeGrand and he was educated in Montour and LeGrand. He graduated from LeGrand High School with the Class of 1945.

He was united in marriage with Rosella Scobee on Dec. 31, 1950, at the Evangelical United Church of the Brethren in Cedar Falls. The couple resided and farmed near Montour, then moved to the Gilman area where they farmed until his retirement.

Glen dearly loved his family. He was a talented woodworker, and his other enjoyments included loafing in the mornings, sharing his wisdom at the local establishments in Gilman, gardening and watching old western movies.

Glen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosella Dillman of Gilman; his children, Nancy Dillman Ingraham of Grinnell, Jeff Dillman of Ames, Tom Dillman of Grinnell, and Lori Edge of Newton; 13 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dale; and two sons, William who died at birth in 1959 and David in 2005.
