OBITUARY

Harry A., son of Jennie and Cornelius Goodale, was born near Brooklyn, Iowa on May 30, 1888, and passed away at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton on Jan. 21, 1959, at the age of 70 years. When in his youth he affiliated with the Episcopal Church.

He was united in marriage to Edna Thorn and to this union five children were born. They made their home on a farm east of Montezuma for several years later moving to Montezuma where he worked for many years with Poweshiek County Road Department.

During the flu epidemic of 1918, Mrs. Goodale passed away. With the help of Grandma Thorn, he was able to keep the family together. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by one son, Harold.

He is survived b two sons, Edward J. and Arnold of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Jean McMeekin of Montezuma and Alice Messick of Newton; seven grandchildren, William and Susan, Arthur, Michael, and Peggy Goodale, all of Cedar Rapids, Tommy McMeekin of Montezuma, and Kenton Messick of Newton; other relatives and many friends.

SERVICES HELD FOR
HARRY A. GOODALE

Funeral services for Harry A. Goodale were held at the Steffy funeral home Saturday, Jan. 24, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Geo. Snyder officiating. Interment was at the Masonic I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Carl Olson, Ray Vanderventer, Leo Evans, George Simpson, Lacy Darland and Ben Purdom.

Some of those attending the services from out of town were: The Ray Nimmos and Mrs. E.C. Messick of Newton; Mrs. Anna Thorn and Glen, Oskaloosa; Russell Sanders, Mount Pleasant; Mrs. Harold Miller and Mary Beth, Cedar Rapids; the R.J. Gillis', Des Moines; Jay Lowrey and Mrs. Andrew Calderwood, Brooklyn, Leo Evans and John McDowell, Searsboro; Robert McWilliams, Deep River; the Archie Mouchkas, Gibson; Mrs. Andy Tone, Grinnell; and Donald Darland, Barnes City.
