CAROLYN FERN AUDRINE DEPAUW

Carolyn Fern Audrine DePauw, age 77, of Marshalltown, passed away July 29, 2012, at home after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by family.

Mrs. DePauw was born Nov. 21, 1934 to Earnest and Florence Johnston Armstrong in Brooklyn. She resided in Brooklyn most of her life until 1985 when she moved to Galena, Kan. In 2012, she moved to Marshalltown. Carolyn was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Brooklyn, the Sixth Street Baptist Church in Galena, Kan., the Baptist Women's group in Galena, Western Star in Brooklyn, Sweet Adeline's, Marshalltown, and a member of the East Poweshiek Ambulance. She had several hobbies including, needle point, quilting, crocheting, and her biggest passion, cooking. Carolyn was married to Marvin Edmond DePauw on November 21, 1954, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; one child, Marvette; and her brother, Richard Armstrong.

Survivors include one daughter, Christina Gilliland, (husband, Darvin) Parsons, Kansas; son, Curtis DePauw, Marshalltown; her beloved dog, Mickey; 11 grandchildren, Carrie DePriest, (husband, Jason) Galena, Kan., Shelia Robison, (husband, Tyler) Oswego, Kan., Brandon, Johna, Tim, Matt, Laura, Deana Gilliland from Oswego, Kan., Carissa Townsend, (husband, Cory) Marshalltown, Brittany and Steven DePauw, Marshalltown, and 7 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday Aug. 2, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn with a luncheon following the service.
