PAULA A. PORTER

Paula A. Porter, 66, of Grinnell, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service was held Thursday, July 25, at the Grinnell Christian Church with the Rev. John Epperson officiating. Casket bearers were Dale Clayton, Anthony Clayton, Brett Clayton, Dominick Clayton, Gary Wilson, Dan Agnew and Dr. Ron Hauser. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Memorials may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice.

Paula was born on May 8, 1947, in Grinnell to Paul and Hazel Waltersdorf Wilson. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1965. She also attended the University of Iowa and later received a degree in dental assisting in Minnesota.

On Nov. 24, 1968, she married Stuart Porter in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell and she worked as a dental assistant for Bauman, Agnew and Cochran Dental Clinic and later for Family Dentistry in Grinnell.

Paula enjoyed writing poetry, collecting angels and butterflies, and spending time with her grandchildren and her pet dog "Taffy." She was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church and attended breast cancer support group meetings during her illness.

She is survived by her husband, Stuart Porter of Grinnell; two children, Mindy Clayton and Matt Porter, both of Grinnell; three grandchildren; and one brother, Gary Wilson of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Karyl Lee Wilson, who died in infancy.
