SERVICES FOR FORMER GUERNSEY RESIDENT

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., May 13, in the Marble Rock Methodist Church for Dorothy May Taylor, who passed away at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City of cancer on May 10, where she had been a patient for several days.

Dorothy May Taylor was born Jan. 10, 1912, to Charles and Mary Polley of rural Grundy County. She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1931. Immediately following graduation, she was employed by the Lincoln Savings Bank of Reinbeck where she worked for nine years.

She was united in marriage to Harold J. Taylor of Guernsey on June 5, 1940. They made their first home in Faribault, Minn., where he was employed by Wilson and Company, Inc. They lived for several years on the E.J. Taylor farm near Guernsey, then in Eagle Grove and Charles City. They have lived for the past 17 years on a farm west of Marble Rock.

Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She was a very active member, serving in many capacities in the WSCS and was currently secretary of the Official Board and Quarterly Conference.

Survivors include her husband, Harold; one son, John, of Marble Rock; one daughter, Mrs. Craig (Mary) Scott of Bristow, Iowa; her father, Charles Polley of Waterloo; two sisters, Mrs. Ergin (Bessie) Frietag and Mrs. Jack (Marjorie) Bickel, both of waterloo. There are many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Whiting Polley.
