EULA VAN TOMME

Eula M. Van Tomme, 88, of Brooklyn died Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn, with the Rev. Richard Okumu officiating. Casket bearers were Michael, Gary, Terry, Greg, Brian and Randy Van Tomme. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of David and Bessie Grier Gilbreaith, she was born May 23, 1912, near Barnes City. She received her education in rural school.

She was married to Camiel Van Tomme Aug. 17, 1932. They farmed south of Brooklyn.

Shortly after her husband's death in 1966, Mrs. Van Tomme moved to Brooklyn. She worked as a nurse's aide at Brookhaven Nursing Home until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.

Surviving are two sons, Dean of Brooklyn and Dale of Guernsey; one sister, Ruth I. James of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Frank; three brothers; and three sisters.

A memorial fund has been established.
