BRUCE D. KURK, 52

Bruce D. Kurk, 52, died peacefully Saturday, July 28, 2007 at his home with his family nearby following a long illness.

Private family services were held on Tuesday, July 31, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Jackie Tjarks officiating. Burial was at the Marengo Cemetery. Kloster Funeral Home of Marengo was in charge of the arrangements.

Bruce David Kurk was born May 24, 1955 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Herman and Doris Hunzelman Kurk. He attended Marengo schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1973. He had extraordinary talent and love of all things electrical and mechanical from an early age. As an adult he took pride in his work as an electrical engineer at Montezuma Manufacturing, Rhinehart Manufacturing, German Machine Works, Street Rod Productions and Victor Manufacturing. He continued to work in his shop at home on his projects during his last two years. Bruce also loved music and played in the band "Foolish Pleasure" in the late 1980s.

He was a good father, grandfather, husband, son and brother. He took pride in his tough muscular build, but was known as a really good guy who would help anyone. He will be missed terribly by his family who all know that he has gone to be with the Lord, but nonetheless, will always wish they had just one more day with him. God rest his soul.

He is survived by a son, Adam Kurk (Casie) of Grinnell; a daughter, Amy Fontinel (Sion) of Victor; grandchildren Caden, Cole and Eisac; his parents, Herman and Doris Kurk of South Amana; a brother, Randy Kurk of Iowa City, and a sister, Kathy Kurk of South Amana. In addition he is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Online condolences may be extended to the family via the website www.klosterfuneralhome.com.
