OBITUARY

William Elmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Oliver, was born in Westville, Charles county, Missouri, September 22nd, 1892, and died at his home in the Beulah community, Poweshiek county, Iowa, June 20th, 1918, aged 25 years, 8 months and 28 days.

When about eight or nine years of age he moved with his parents to Hunewell, Mo., where he remained until seven years ago, when he again removed to Shelbyville, Mo. About six years ago he first came to Beulah community to work as a farm hand during the farming season, returning home during the winter months.

On October 11th, 1914, he was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Doyle. They farmed the home place for one year, then moved onto the Clark farm where they have since lived and where he met his untimely death.

He was a quiet, industrious young man and only the night before his death had looked over his fields and felt proud of the results of his labors and the prospects before him. He was a good neighbor, for as one man put it, he would anytime leave his own work to help a neighbor with his hauling. He will be greatly missed in the neighborhood.

He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, his mother, father and one brother together with many other relatives, friends and neighbors.

The funeral services were held at the Beulah Methodist church on Saturday June 22nd, 1918, at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. Cray Jones. The pallbearers were John and Joe Babb, Alva Ehret, Edward Doonan, Clarence Elliott and Lawrence Phillips. Interment was made in the cemetery at Montezuma.
