LOTTIE SPARKS

Lottie Sparks, 88, Toledo, formerly of the Gilman area, died Thursday at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center of a heart ailment.

Services were held Saturday afternoon, April 28, at Henderson-Overton Funeral Home, Toledo, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo.

She was born Aug. 23, 1901, near Gilman to Andrew J. and Mary Belle Brechtbill Stanford. She attended the schools in Washburn and continued her education at Marshalltown Business College. She was employed as a secretary in a livery business at Union.

She was married in September, 1922 to Lester Sparks of Marshalltown and, while farming, they made their home in Marshall, Tama and Jasper Counties. They moved to West Allis, Wis., where she worked as a nurses' aide in the Milwaukee Sanitarium. Her husband died in 1952 and in 1980 she moved to Toledo.

There are no immediate survivors.
