KATHRYN ARLENE PIERCE

Kathryn Arlene Pierce, 83, of Lake Ponderosa, Montezuma, died Friday morning, Sept. 27, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Her funeral service was Sunday, Sept. 29, at Watts Funeral Home with the Rev. George M. Salnave officiating. interment was at Jackson Township Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Curt Stemsrud, Allen Gregory, Larry Kline, John Eichhorn, Bob Rauch and John Griffin.

Arlene, as she was known, was born May 14, 1919, in Tama County, the daughter of John and Mildred (Strong) Moyer. She grew up in Malcom and Grinnell. June 25, 1938, she was united in marriage with Harold "Skip" Pierce in the Presbyterian Manse at Grinnell.

They were the parents of two children, a son, Earl and a daughter, Judy. They farmed and lived north of Montezuma until moving to Lake Ponderosa.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband; one great-grandson, Keagan Hall; and an infant brother, John, Jr.

Arlene is survived by a son, Earl of Lake Ponderosa; a daughtr, Judy (and Norman) Hall of Montezuma; three grandchildren, Wade (and Gina) Hall and Leslie (and Gretchen) Hall, of Grinnell; and Jennifer (and Jimmy) Fisk of Montezuma; seven great-grandchildren; 11 brothers and sisters, James Moyer of Grinnell; Robert Moyer of Dubuque; Francis Moyer and Allan Moyer both of Grinnell; Maxine "Sal Osborn of Montezuma; Russell Moyer of Estes Park, Colo.; Harold Moyer of Grinnell; Karol Gilliand of Marshalltown; Mary Schmidt of Grinnell; Joyce Lincoln of Stuart; and Roger Moyer of Grinnell.
