KATHY ANN FISHER

Kathy Ann Fisher, 41, of Grinnell died of cancer Wednesday, April 17, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.

The daughter of Duane and Mary Ann Strellner Gustafson, she was born March 6, 1961, in Cedar Rapids. She was raised in Van Horne and was a 1979 graduate of Benton Community High School.

She moved to Tama in 1980 and was employed at United Fire and Casualty in Cedar Rapids for several years. She began her employment with GTE in Grinnell in 1991. She moved to Grinnell, but soon retired from GTE because of health reasons.

She was married to Danny Fisher July 28, 2000, in Brooklyn. The couple continued to live in Grinnell.

Surviving are her husband; two children, Kristine and Kevin Balvin, both of Grinnell; one sister, Barbara Hamilton of Mesa, Ariz.; and one brother, Kent Gustafson of Hiawatha.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holden Cancer Center at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
