VIRGINIA SEVERE

Virginia L Severe, 75, of Grinnell died on Saturday, April 12, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at the First Baptist Church in Grinnell with the Rev. Tim Stewart, pastor of the church, officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner. Casket bearers will include Greg Billman, Jason, James, Kegan, Kyler and Ken Wallace, Kalen, Gary and Milton Severe and Josh Fraser. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell starting at noon on Tuesday, the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening.

Born on Nov. 24, 1929, in Grinnell, she was the daughter of Brent and Ottie Upchruch Tuggle. She was raised in Grinnell, attended Grinnell schools and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1948. She worked for a local telephone company following her education.

On June 11, 1950, she married James Severe in Grinnell. The couple made their home here, where she was a homemaker and was employed for Grinnell HIgh School in the food service.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed crafts, music and her pet dogs.

Survivors include her mother; a daughter, Becky Wallace of Jefferson, Iowa; two sons, Gary of Silver City, N.M., and Milton of Grinnell; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.

Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church.
