C. OAKLEY SHARP

C. Oakley Sharp, 83, of Rte. 1, Kellogg, died Sunday, July 1, at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lyle W. Johnston, pastor of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Alice Renaud, and vocalists were Delmar and Norma Jean Sharp. Pallbearers were Kevin Breeden, Clifton Gifford Jr., Curtis Gifford, Kevin Gifford, Floyd Hunter and Delmar Sharp.

Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery, Kellogg. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant View United Methodist Church.

The son of Frank and Mary Doak Sharp, he was born Oct. 30, 1906, in Richland Township, Jasper County. He attended rural school.

On Oct. 4, 1939, he was married to Emma Louise Dilts at Montezuma. The couple farmed southeast of Kellogg following their marriage.

Mr. Sharp was a member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by one brother, Otto of Kellogg. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, Donald, Clarence, Maxwell and Vernon; and one sister, Florence Sharp.
