Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Orr, who passed away at her home here last Friday, were conducted from the M.E. church Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. J.H. Freedline. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Mary Jane Beatty was born in Fermanagh, Ireland, February, 1848, and passed away at her home in Brooklyn, Ia., April 19, 1935, having celebrated her 87th birthday a few months ago.

She came to this country when quite young and lived in Pittsburgh, Penn., until 1878, when she was united in marriage with Robert Orr. She, with her husband, came this same year to Poweshiek county and settled on a farm three and a half miles south of Brooklyn.

This union was blest with three children, Mrs. O.W. Harrah of LaJara, Colo., Fleming T. Orr and Mrs. James Lippincott of this city. She is the last one of her immediate family to be called to her reward. She leaves three grandchildren and one great grandchild, with a host of other relatives and friends who mourn the passing of this fine character.

She was baptized when a little child in the Episcopalian church and when a young woman she united with the Methodist Episcopal church and remained faithful throughout all the years. She was a fine neighbor, kind and sympathetic in sickness and sorrow and a real mother and companion to her dear ones.

In 1921 she was bereft of her husband. For 47 years Mrs. Orr has lived in Brooklyn, where she was held in the very highest esteem by all who knew her.

Out-of-town relatives at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Harrah of LaJara, Colo., Mrs. Margaret Forney of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Sloan of Des Moines.

Pallbearers were F.P. Dunton, John Goff, B.F. Kensinger, Simpson Murrison, W.H. Johnston and C.C. Ecklund.
