Alfred "Al" Thompson, 65, of Fort Collins, Colo., a native of Grinnell, died Friday, March 27, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Allnutt Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
The son of John and Emily Jeffrey Thompson, he was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Grinnell. He was married to Virginia L. Griffin March 1, 1946, in Nashua.
Mr. Thompson worked for 23 years for Moorman's Manufacturing Co. and operated Salt River Cattle and Mesa Milling in Arizona and Windsor Elevator in Windsor, Colo., until retiring in 1986. He had lived in Phoenix, Ariz., and Greeley, Colo., prior to moving to Fort Collins.
He was a member of the Masons and the Elks Lodge in Greeley, Colo., and a charter member of Windsor Rotary and C-400 of Concordia College.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Steve of Fort Collins and Michael of Thornton, Colo.; two daughters, Laura Demianycz of Fort Collins and Cathryn Rustebakke of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Deppe of Grinnell.
