SERVICES HELDMemorial services for Mrs. Susan Burma Huntoon, 28, wife of Peter Huntoon of Tucson, Ariz., were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Grinnell United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Huntoon died suddenly early Sunday morning (Nov. 8) at Grand Canyon Village, Ariz., where she and her husband were temporarily making their home while Mr. Huntoon was making hydrologic studies. She had not been in the best of health the past few years and had suffered an asthmatic attack.
The Rev. Newell E. Davis, pastor of the local church, and the Rev. Ralph Beebe of the Mayflower Home, officiated at the services. Organist was Norman Goodbrod.
Following cremation, interment will be made in Hazelwood Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials in Mrs. Huntoon's name may be made to the National Asthmatic Foundation for Asthmatic Children in care of the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The daughter of John H. and Hughlette Burma, Mrs. Huntoon was born in Grinnell on July 25, 1942. She attended the Grinnell schools and graduated from Grinnell high school with the class of 1960. While in high school she was active in music and journalism and was a member of the Concert and Marching Bands and the Orange and Black newspaper staff. Later she graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.A. degree in psychology.
On July 25, 1965, she married Peter Huntoon in Grinnell. After their marriage the couple made their home in Tucson until this past summer when they temporarily moved to Grand Canyon Village.
Mr. Huntoon was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Grinnell and has served as president of the Tucson Toastmistress Club.
Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Burma of Claremont, Calif.; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. S.B. Beasley of Kerens, Texas; two aunts and one uncle.
Mrs. Huntoon was preceded n death by her mother, Hughlette, in 1952.
