Margaret Shank, 89, of Black Hawk, S.D., formerly of Kellogg, died Monday, Dec. 8, at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, S.D.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at st. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell, with the Rev. William Reynolds officiating. Music will be provided by St. Mary's Choir and organist Kyle Szary. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Newburg.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home beginning at noon Thursday. The family will be present at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
She was born Nov. 21, 1908, in Brooklyn. She attended school in Rhodes. She was married to J.R. Goodrich in 1929, and they lived in Newton.
During World War II, she worked in a war plant and One Minute Washing Machine Co. in Kellogg.
In 1949, she was married to Russell Shank, and the couple farmed north of Kellogg. She moved to Black Hawk in 1993 to be near her son.
Surviving are one son, Dean Goodrich of Black Hawk; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lloyd Hauersperger of Kellogg and Sylvester Hauersperger of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter, Louise Jeffreys.
