FARMER SUCCUMBSHenry C. Luttman, 84, Rte. 3, longtime Grinnell area farmer, died at a local hospital Tuesday forenoon, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:00 from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. The Rev. Laverne Streich, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, will officiate. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.
Music at the services will be furnished by Mrs. Lester Hendrickson and Mrs. Harlan Dare, accompanied by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner. Mrs. Cleland Freeborn and Mrs. Wayne Reams will be on the flower committee. Pallbearers will be Elmer Luttman, Floyd Lutman, Claire Simmons, Albert Graff Jr., Orville Hafkey, and Delmar Puls.
Mr. Luttman was born on Nov. 17, 1874, in Reading, Ohio. He was the son of Henry and Minnie Luttman. In 1890 he came to Poweshiek county, and spent two years in Sheridan township before moving to Chester township where he resided the rest of his life.
On February 21, 1900, he was united in marriage with Clara Frances Hink, who died on May 12, 1941.
Mr. Luttman is survived by his children, Delmar and Merlyn at home, Lester of Grinnell, Mrs. Albert Graff and Mrs. Wesley Ahrens, also both of Grinnell, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Louis G. Luttman, and a sister, Mrs. Otto Schultz.
Mr. Luttman was a member of St. John's Lutheran church.
