NESHA MEYER

Nesha Paulson Meyer, 49, of Grinnell died Sunday Nov. 5, 2006, at the home of her parents after a lengthy illness.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 a.m. at First Friends Church with the Rev. Todd Follette, pastor of the church, officiating. Casket bearers will be Bill and Ed Bailey, Ken Saunders, Ron Lowry, Kirk Halstead and Blake and Brent Cooper. Honorary bearers will be Jim Bailey, Dennis and David Lowry and Tim Paulson. Interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home Thursday beginning at noon with family members present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be sent to the Nesha Meyer Memorial Fund at Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell IA 50112.

She was born March 5, 1957, in Grinnell to Keith and Shirley Lowry Paulson and was raised on the family farm west of Grinnell, graduating from Grinnell High School in 1975. She was married to Gary Meyer on July 30, 1976. They were divorced in 1995 but remained close friends. She was employed at DeLong Sportswear, then operated a child-care center in her home. When she returned to the work force she worked in the produce department at Food 4 Less, then returned to sewing at Rock Creek Athletics as well as operating a small sewing and alterations business from her home.

She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed crafts and especially counted cross-stitch. She enjoyed animals, including horses and dogs; horseback riding, skiing, roller skating and playing intramural volleyball and softball. She attended First Friends Church.

She is survived by her parents; her children, Camille Meyer and Carrie Meyer, both of Cedar Rapids; Laura Meyer Patten of Grinnell; Juelles Brenner and Jamie Brenner of Grinnell; two grandchildren; two brothers, Craig Paulson and Mark Paulson, both of Grinnell, and one sister Karma Werner of Grinnell.
