Funeral services were held this morning from James Funeral Home for Ira E. Goodrich, 84, pioneer Grinnell businessman who died October 14th following an illness of several weeks.

Associated with the Grinnell Provision Company here for nearly 56 years, he first became a member of the company in 1899 shortly after moving into Grinnell.

Born Sept. 20th, 1871 on a farm near Grinnell, he was the son of O.D. and Jane Goodrich. He attended rural schools in this vicinity and in March, 1897, was married to Minnie G. Daugherty of Marengo who preceded him in death in 1937.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C.H. (Erma) Dimit of Grinnell and Mrs. E.J. Rhodes (Gladys) of Stockton, Calif.; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Addie Billick of Chicago, Mrs. Julia Eichhorn of Montezuma, and one brother, George of Bartlesville, Okla. Another daughter, Mrs. Wiley (Bernice) Burden is deceased.

A past member of the Elks Lodge and Knights of Pythias, he also was a member of the Congregational church.

Rev. Leland Mann, minister of the Congregational church, officiated at the last services and music was furnished by Norman Goodbrod.

Pallbearers were Raymond Norris, Irving Howell, Wesley Ahrens, Earl Mathews, J. Parrott and D.M. Reynolds while Wilford Smiley, Murray Watkins, A.B. Hamilton, Roy Bates, Croft Pilgrim and John Manly served as honorary pallbearers. Interment was at Hazelwood.
