WILLIAM ADAMS

William C. Adams, 70, of 1223 Third Ave., Grinnell, died of a heart ailment Sunday, Jan. 15, at Humana Hospital, Dade City, Fla.

The body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Arthur Schlief, pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Newton, officiating. Burial of the ashes will be in Sigourney.

Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The son of John Henry and Ola Adams, he was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Akron, Ohio. He received his early education in Akron.

He was married to Alle Jenece Iosbaker Oct. 26, 1946, in Severna Park, Md. The couple lived in Baltimore, moving to Sigourney in 1949 and to Lynnville in 1952. They had been residents of Grinnell since 1959.

Mr. Adams retired after 26 years with the Maytag Company in Newton. He was a member of the United Auto Workers union and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Surviving are his wife, his children, Flora Mae Howland of Greenfield, Ohio, William R. of DeWitt and Gary Lee of Prophetstown, Ill.; a stepson, Gael Earl Doane of Grinnell; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John H. and Russell, both of Baltimore. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; two half-brothers, Arthur and Hartzel Adams; and one half-sister, Freda Proctor.
