SERVICE FOR MRS. ALLEN

Services for Grace L. Allen, 75, 633 Prairie St., who died Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Grinnell General Hospital of cancer, were held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Funeral services were conducted by John Epperson at Smith Funeral Home. Organist was Jolene Jones. Pallbearers were Larry Ellis, Neil Johnson, Gary Story, Denny Turner, Jim Wallace, and Larry Yearian. The burial took place in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of James and Laura Travis McElwee, Mrs. Allen was born on Sept. 25, 1912, in Shelby County, Ill., where she also attended school.

She was married to Homer Dale Allen on March 30, 1932, in Des Moines and made her home in Polk and Jasper counties before coming to Grinnell in 1937.

Mrs. Allen was employed at former Hildibrand Shoe Co. in Grinnell and later at DeLong Sportswear.

Survivors include her husband Homer; one son Gerald of Grinnell; two daughters, Nona Johnson of Oakland Acres and Juanita Prescott of Schenectady, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Cox of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
