DOROTHY CARNES SERVICES HELD

Dorothy A. Carnes, 38, of 325 East St., Grinnell, died Thursday morning at Iowa Methodist Medical center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert C. Smith, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Organist was James Severe. Burial was at Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice, Neb., this morning.

The daughter of Homer and Evelyn Holmbeck Kessler, she was born Jan. 22, 1943, at Beatrice. She attended schools there and graduated from the Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, Neb. She was employed by a medical office and later for the Northern Natural Gas Pipeline Co. at Beatrice.

On Feb. 12, 1966, she was married to Larry Carnes at Beatrice. They lived in Beatrice, Nevada, Grinnell and Forest City, returning to Grinnell in 1978. She was employed here in the office of Dr. Robert Carney and at the time of her death was employed by Marshalltown chiropractor Dr. Larry Phipps.

Survivors include her husband, Larry; three children, Shari Sand and Timothy E. and Christopher E. Carnes, all of Grinnell; two grandchildren; and her parents.
