RITES HELD FOR
MRS. JACKSON

Mrs. Mabel T. Jackson, 82, of Brooklyn, formerly of Grinnell, died Thursday, Oct. 23, at Brookhaven Nursing Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jackson were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Organist was Edward H. Bohstedt, and pallbearers were Harold Brown, Donovan Evans, William Greenwald, Merton Johnson, LaVerne Raffety and Clair Strand. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Day, she was born Feb. 14, 1893, near Gibson City, Ill. She attended rural school near her home and later attended Gibson City High School. She was graduated from high school in Vandalia, Mo. She attended Iowa State University and then taught rural school for six years.

On June 10, 1919, she was married to E. Herbert Jackson in Minier, Ill. The couple had three children. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson lived in Illinois and moved to Grinnell around 1930. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, the Rebecca Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Dale E. Jackson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Doney of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Aubrey Jean) Nally and Mrs. Gerald (Wanda Jane) Read; her parents; five brothers and two sisters.
