DENITA R. FOLLETTE, 38

Denita R. Follette, 38, of 4475 Highway 146, Grinnell, died Tuesday, April 1, at her home of cancer.

Her funeral service was held Saturday, April 5, at the First Friends Church in Grinnell with Pastor Kevin Mortimer, pastor of the Middle River Friends Church of Carlisle and Pastor Ron Bryan, pastor of the LeGrand Friends Church, officiating. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Denita was born on July 14, 1964, at St. Louis, Mo. to Earl D. and R. Eloise Johnson Brightup. She was raised in St. Louis and graduated from the Westminster Christian Academy. Mrs. Follette attended Barkley College in Haviland, Kansas, and graduated from William Penn College in Oskaloosa with a bachelor's degree in business.

She was married to Todd C. Follette in Haviland, Kansas, on June before moving to Fairfield, Iowa in 1987. While living in Fairfield, she worked as a teacher in the Fairfield School District. In 1999, the family moved to Grinnell and she taught at the Newton Christian School and recently was an English teacher in the Montezuma High School. She had also coached volleyball in Fairfield and Montezuma. She was a member of the First Friends Church of Grinnell.

Denita is survived by her husband, Pastor Todd Follette of Grinnell; two sons, Clinton J. and Craig J. Follette, both of Grinnell; one daughter, Christa J. Follette of Grinnell; her parents, Earl and Eloise Johnson Brightup of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Diane Hersberger of Newton, Kansas; and one brother, Robert E. Brightup of Richmond, Va.

Her grandparents preceded her in death.
