DONALD ROBERT WARD, 59

Donald Robert Ward, 59, of Deep River died Wednesday April 22, 1998 at his home.

Funeral services were Sunday, April 26 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma.

The Rev. Frances Baumert of the What Cheer Christian Church officiated.

"How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" were solos by Marilyn Warwick, who was accompanied by Tom Sandholm, organist.

Casket bearers were Sam Gillotti, Jason Foss, Doug White, Roger Ward, Larry Tuttle, Don Ross and Paul Handy.

Interment was in Sixteen Cemetery in Thornburg.

Robert was born May 19, 1938 in What Cheer, the son of Henry Wilbur Ward and Zella Lucile (Handy) Ward. He attended What Cheer schools.

He worked for What Cheer Clay Products and later for Kaser Corporation. He lived in the What Cheer area most of his life and most recently, in Deep River.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Dean Ward on August 4, 1966 and by his parents, Wilbur and Lucile Ward.

He is survived by two children, a son, James R. Ward of West Springfield, Mass. and a daughter, Donita J. Ward of Des Moines; four sisters and their husbands, Mary and Bert Ross of Deep River, Linda and Larry Tuttle of Norwalk, Evelyn and Sam Gillotti of Johnston and Connie and Michael Smith of Des Moines; two brothers, David Ward and his wife, Marge of Frankfort, Ky. and Terry Ward of Deep River, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Deep River Volunteer Fire Department.
