CHARLES BRYAN
DIES SUDDENLY;
HERE 30 YEARS

Charles Albert Byan, 1027 Elm, died suddenly Thursday afternoon, Jan. 13, while at work at Grinnell college. He was 65 years old.

Mr. Bryan was found dead in the rest room of the college union where he had gone apparently to work.

Born in Kansas, Sept. 19, 1889, he was the son of William Albert and Mary E. Parker Bryan. He was married Feb. 15, 1911 at Montezuma to Mary I. Henry.

A Grinnell resident for 30 years, he came here from Montezuma. Mr. Bryan was employed as maintenance engineer at the college. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church.

Funeral services were held this afternoon, Monday with Rev. W. J. Stewart and Rev. E.E. Beattie officiating. Burial was at Hazelwood cemetery with Smith Funeral Home in charge.

Surviving are ten children, Mrs. Vursel (Bessie) Wright, Mrs. Cecil (Hazel) Brim, Mrs. LeRoy (Ruth) Mithelman, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Osborn, Mrs. Keith (Clara) Halstead and Albert Bryan, and Robert Bryan, all of Grinnell; Alvin Bryan and Roy Bryan of Marshalltown; and Mrs. Gene (Roberta) Todd of Indianola.

A sister, Mrs. Mable Dunton of Oskaloosa and a brother, Ern Bryan of Barnes City and 21 grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, who died in 1947; a son, Ray, who died in 1935; and two sons who died in infancy.
