CAROL ANN HASBROUCK

Carol Ann Hasbrouck, 50, of Monroe died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 17, at Smith Funeral Home with David Pinkerton, pastor of Taintor Community Church, officiating. Pallbearers were Ryan, Cory, Christopher and Josh Figland and Jason and Anthony Hasbrouck. Burial was in the Searsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Carol Ann Hasbrouck Memorial Fund.

The daughter of Chester L. and Linda James Figland, she was born Oct. 24, 1957, in Grinnell. She was raised it the Lynnville-Sully area and was a 1975 graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School. She received the associate of arts degree from Des Moines Area community College in Des Moines. Following her graduation from high school she moved to Newton where she was employed at Heritage Manor. She later was employed as a secretary from 1980 to 1988 at the Newton Correctional Facility. She was married on May 30, 1987, to Paul Hasbrouck in Newton and the couple made their home in Monroe.

She enjoyed bowling and was a member of a women's bowling league team. She also enjoyed riding horses, the outdoors, camping and fishing.

She is survived by her husband Paul of Monroe; one daughter Dawn Gomez of Monroe; three stepsons, Jason Hasbrouck of Cambridge, Adam Hasbrouck of Graettinger and Anthony Hasbrouck of Emmetsburg; her mother and stepfather, Linda and Lowell Goemaat of Lynnville; her grandmother, Mabel Lewis of Grand River; three brothers, Chester Figland of Monroe, Michael Figland of Knoxville and Nick Figland of Kellogg and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Chester L. Figland; her sister, Lisa Kay Figland and a nephew, Nathan Figland.
