Christian Shine was born near Brooklyn, Poweshiek county, Iowa March 17, 1861, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shine, and passed away at his home near Guernsey, Iowa, May 10, 1926, at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 23 days. Mr. Shine had been sick for several years and bedfast since last September. He had spent his entire life in Poweshiek county.
He was married to Louise Eischer on February 11, 1891, and to this union were born four children, Anna Catherine dying in infancy. He is survived by his widow, two daughters and one son: Mrs. William Wagner of Richland, Mo., Mrs. Ralph Aiken of Marengo, Iowa, and John W. Shine of Decatur, Ill.; six grandchildren, his aged father, two sisters, Mrs. T. J. Phillips and Mrs. James Anderson, all of Victor, and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held from the home Wednesday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. N. A. Swickard, the choir, Mrs. Herman Schrader, Mrs. Joe Porashak, Joe Dieterich and Emmett Taylor, singing two hymns. The pall bearers were Lee Daugherty, Grant Provin, Elmer Dappen, Ed Lane, Wm. Cordes and Ed Wenger. Interment was made in the Moravian cemetery.---Victor Record.
