RITES TODAYPaul H. Eriksen, 68, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 16, at University Hospitals in Iowa City of an apparent heart and lung condition.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. James P. Russell, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers will be Steven Adkins, Marvin Berger, Jerry Kent, LaVern Kroener, Larry Kunce and Craig Weidner.
Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery. Masonic fraternal rites were held Wednesday and conducted by members of Lilly Lodge No. 254 of Malcom.
The son of Henry W. and Amy Osborn Eriksen, he was born on a farm southeast of Grinnell. He attended rural schools and graduated from Grinnell High School.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army with the 819th tank destroyer battalion. He married Inez Parkhurst in Muscatine on Jan. 28, 1948. The Eriksens farmed north of Malcom, and later farmed southeast of Gladbrook. They moved to Tama in 1960. In 1977, the couple moved to Grinnell, and Mr. Eriksen was supervisor of the agriculture division of Miracle Recreation Equipment Co.
Mr. Eriksen was a member of Lilly Lodge No. 254 of Malcom, the Scottish Rite Consistery of Cedar Rapids, El Kahir Shrine of Cedar Rapids, the Grinnell American Legion and Eagles Lodge of Grinnell.
Survivors include his wife, Inez; his mother; a sistr, Marie Tokel of Grinnell; and a step-son.
