McAnich Rites Held Here Monday

Had Lived in Brooklyn 69 Years; Was Over 80 Years Old

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Brooklyn for Sam McAnich, 80, who died Saturday morning at his home here. The Reverend Miller had charge of the services and burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Samuel McAnich, son of James and Elizabeth McAnich, was born in Ohio, Oct. 31, 1857. He passed away at his home Saturday morning at 8:30 o’clock, being 80 years 8 months and 8 days old.

He came to Iowa with his parents in November 1869 and settled in Brooklyn, Iowa, where he has made his home since that time.

On November 26, 1884, he was united in marriage to Etta Woodel. After 36 years of wedded life she passed away in August 1920.

On September 9, 1923 he was united in marriage to Cora Butterfield. Since then both have enjoyed their home together.

He and his brother David worked together many years, moving and raising buildings until the time of his brother’s death.

Later on, ill health prevented him from carrying on his work.

He leaves to mourn his going, his wife, Mrs. Earl Allan of Waterloo whom he raised from a small girl, one step daughter, Vivian Heyle of Calif., 2 half sisters, Mrs. Ella Helm of Malcom and Mrs. James McMurray of Victor; two brothers, McGinley of Brooklyn and --- O. McAnich of Victor; ----- rest is missing.
