R.O. HEATWOLE RITES
HELD HERE SUNDAY

Funeral services for R.O. Heatwole, 83, a Brooklyn resident for many years, were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at Bramer Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Leslie Rogers, pastor of the Church of the Brethren.

Organist was Mrs. Ed Bartachek who also accompanied Le Roy Schnenig, a nephew, singing, "The Old Rugged Cross." Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Little were flower attendants.

Interment was in I.O.O.F. cemetery with Grant Heishman, Truman Heishman, Theodore Miller, Elver Miller, Abel Doty and William Benishek, Sr. serving as pallbearers.

Raleigh Otho Heatwole, son of Martin and Sarah Frances Heatwole, was born Feb. 11, 1881, at Harrisonburg, Va. and died Jan. 7, 1965, at St. Francis hospital in Grinnell. He had been in poor health for several years.

He was married to Dora Belle Miller Feb. 22, 1906, at the home of her parents near Brooklyn. They farmed north of Brooklyn until moving into town in 1936.

Mr. and Mrs. Heatwole had observed their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1956. Mrs. Heatwole preceded him in death in 1958.

Mr. Heatwole was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by a brother and two sisters. They are Weldon Heatwole and Mrs. Addie Burkholder, both of Harrisonburg, Va., and Mrs. Betty Brunk of Upland, Calif.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Emmer, and three sisters, Effie, Tracey and Fleta.
