RUSSELL DAYLE TALBERT
(November 9, 1926 - December 28, 2012Russell Talbert, 86 of New Sharon passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at his home in New Sharon. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the funeral home with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A private burial will be held at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Sharon First Christian Church.
Russell Dayle Talbert, son of Harold and Mae (Gilbert) Talbert was born on November 9, 1926 in Grinnell, Iowa. He attended country school in the Grinnell area. On October 7, 1949, Russ was united in marriage to Bettie Stanford. To this union two sons were born, Russell Jr. and Ricky. They later divorced. Russ then married Alberta Woods on November 24, 1977 at Union Mills. She preceded Russ in death in 2004. Russ farmed and worked at Texaco and Kerr McGee gas station in Montezuma. He also worked at the Montezuma School Bus Garage as a mechanic for several years, retiring in 1991. Russ owned and operated the laundry mat in New Sharon since 1994. He enjoyed woodworking, tractor pulls and dancing. Russ was a member of the New Sharon Lions Club, he served on the New Sharon City Council and is currently serving on the Seneca Board in New Sharon. He also attends the New Sharon First Christian Church.
His memory is honored by his son, Ricky Talbert of Montezuma; a step son, Ray Woods; three grandchildren, Rachel Perez, Rebekah Coster and Colton Talbert; four step grandchildren, Christy Kaisand, Missy Eilander, Kent Woods and Scott Woods; three great grandchildren, Kieren, Elliott and Jaylah; 10 step great grandchildren, Kyle, Monica, David, Mollie, Ryan, Tyler, Sydney, Jordan, Kara and Ashlee; five step great-great grandchildren, River, Easton, Nolan, Rylee and Ryder; a brother Michael Talbert and Russ's special companion, Doris Hicks.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Alberta; a son, Russell Talbert Jr., a step son, Gary Woods, a brother, Glen Talbert and a sister, Faye Talbert.
