Mrs. Elizabeth Shine, nee Uhl, was born near Millersburg, Holmes, Co., Ohio, November 14, 1835. She was married to Mr. Adam Shine September 12, 1855, at her home in Ohio. In 1857 they moved to Iowa, settling in the vicinity of Brooklyn on a farm, where they lived until the fall of 1882 when they moved to their present home in Malcom. To Mr. and Mrs. Shine there were born twelve children, six sons and six daughters. Six of the children survive their mother to mourn her loss. One of the daughters is a confirmed invalid being confined to her bed continually. Mrs. Shine was unusually well up to a week before her decease. When she was first taken ill it was not thought to be serious, but she continually grew worse. All that skillful medical aid, and loving attention on the part of the sons and daughters could do was done in her behalf, but she continually grew worse until Friday evening, January 5th, when she passed quietly away from her earthly home to her heavenly home at the age of ------four years, one month and twenty----days. Mrs. Shine manifested an interest in religion under the ministrations of Father Chapman as far back as 1860. She has been a faithful Christian, a punctual attendant upon divine service, and was previous to her death in connection with the Malcom Presbyterian church. She was a woman of calm and quiet disposition, of strong affections, and devoted to the interests of her family. She won for herself many friends, who now mourn her loss. Her decease just at this time is especially sad since she leaves both an invalid daughter and husband, who greatly needed her loving care. (Rest is missing)
