MRS. MATNEY RITES FRIDAY

Dorothy Matney, 66, of Rte. 1, Brooklyn, died Tuesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Purcel-Davis Chapel in Marshalltown, with Dr. Glen Jaspers officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown.

The daughter of Bert and Mary McKinnon Bivens, she was born July 1, 1916, at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was married to Ralph L. Matney on Oct. 13, 1934, at Marshalltown.

Raised and educated in the Albion area, she was formerly employed by Char-Du Manufacturing Co. and Granny's Gift Shop in Brooklyn. She was a former commander of the Navy Mothers Club and served as state adjutant for the organization. She was a member of the Mid-Iowa Community Action board in Brooklyn and the Albion Mothers Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Warren of Brooklyn and Melzee Jacobson of Hampton, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Russell Bivens of Yakima, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, one daughter and two granddaughters.
