Minnie Frances York, daughter of Nathan and Anna York, was born in Indiana, May 8th, 1865. She died at her home in Brooklyn, following an illness of seven weeks, December 31st, 1929, at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 23 days.
When a young girl, she came to Brooklyn with her parents. She was married to Frank H. Negus, of Malcom, September 26th, 1889. To them were born five children, four of whom, with her husband, survive her. One daughter, Helen, died in infancy.
The surviving children are: Mrs. Grace Campbell, of Rock Island, Illinois, Mrs. Mabel Lerch, of Kenmore, N.Y., Mrs. Blanche Dunton, of Brooklyn and Clarence Negus, of Rock Island, Illinois. Other surviving relatives are: four grandchildren, Helen Fry, whose home is with her grandparents, Byron Lerch, of Kenmore, N.Y., Mabel Dunton of Brooklyn and Dale Campbell of Rock Island, two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Nellie Krouskop, Mrs. William Meldrem and Ben York of Brooklyn. One grandson, Roy Fry, died in infancy.
Mrs. Negus was a member of the Brethren Church in South Brooklyn, and of the South Side Circle. She had a kindly disposition, was a friend of all and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Funeral services conducted from Methodist Church, by the pastor, Friday afternoon, January 3rd, at 2 o’clock. Interment in Brooklyn cemetery.
