MARY BAKER HARPSTER

Mary Baker was born December 6, 1826, in Snyder county, Pa. She was united in marriage to Thomas Harpster on the 23d day of March, 1845.

To them were born four children, three daughters and one son, of whom the son and one daughter survive her. They came to Chester township, Iowa, in 1881, and later moved to Grinnell township, where the husband died on December 25, 1899, ending a happy married life of more than fifty-four years.

Her home for the last few years has been with her son, at which place she died Dec. 11, 1909, at the age of eighty-three years and five days. At the age of sixteen she united with the Evangelical Lutheran church. In coming to Iowa she united with the Congregational church a Chester Center, of which she was a member at the time of her death.
