Died at Greene, Iowa, at Home of Her Daughter
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the McConnell home in Brooklyn for Mrs. J. F. McConnell, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cleo Newton in Greene, Iowa, Thursday.
The Rev. Fred Miller had charge of the services. Pall bearers were: Hugh Lang, James Staples, Carl Carlson, Walter Clayton, James Keller and Harlan Jones.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Mary Idella Edgington was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doniel Edgington and was born at La Clair, Scott county, Iowa, May 26, 1864. She passed away at the home of her daughter in Greene, Iowa, February 23, 1939.
She came to Brooklyn when quite young and was married here to Joseph F. McConnell by Dr. I. N. Busby, early Methodist minister and doctor in this community. Mrs. McConnell was a member of the Methodist church for many years.
For many years Mr. and Mrs. McConnell lived on a farm in Madison township coming to Brooklyn in their later years, where Mr. McConnell died April 12, 1930.
For the past few years Mrs. McConnell has spent much time with her daughter in Greene keeping her home here and coming here occasionally for short periods. Her death followed illness of several months.
She is survived by two children, Dan of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Cleo Newton of Greene and by five grandchildren and one great grandson.
