INA PORTER MEMORIAL SET

Ina G. Porter, 99, died of a heart ailment Thursday evening, March 26, at Friendship Manor.

The body was cremated. A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Raymond Lott officiating. Burial of the ashes will be in Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was the daughter of George and Helen Tidd Knox, and was born on May 28, 1887, in Plankinton, S.D. When she was a young girl her family moved to Victor, then to Newton where she attended school and graduated from Newton High School.

She taught for two years prior to her marriage to E.E. Porter. The couple farmed in Minnesota, then moved to Grinnell. Mrs. Porter was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the church choir.

She is survived by two sons, Dwight of Lake Forest, Ill., and Claire of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Wilbur; two brothers; and four sisters.
