MRS. H.H. ROBBINS
DIED FRIDAY IN
EUGENE, OREGON
----------------------------

Mrs. H.H. Robbins, a Grinnell resident for many years, and a descendant of one of Grinnell's earlier pioneer families, died Friday afternoon at her home in Eugene, Oregon, aged 89 years. The news came in a telegram from M. Hale Douglass, member of the Douglass family, famed in Iowa Congregationalism, to Mrs. Susie Childs. The body is to be cremated and the ashes will be brought back to Grinnell to rest beside those of Mr. Robbins in Hazelwood cemetery.

All old timers remember Mr. and Mrs. Robbins well. Mr. Robbins for many years was treasurer of the college and the Robbins home was a center of hospitality and culture. Mrs. Robbins before her marriage was Abbie Whitcomb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Whitcomb, who were among the earliest settlers in Grinnell. Mr. Whitcomb conducted a harness shop back in the very early days. She was a sister of Professor Seldon L. Whitcomb, now deceased, who for so many years taught English on the college faculty, and had several sisters.
