MR. OLIPHANT DIES IN TEXAS

Leslie A. Oliphant, 88, died Tuesday morning at his home in McAllen, Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Wallace Funeral Home in Newton, with burial at Newton Union Cemetery.

The son of John and Emma Wilkerson Oliphant, he was born April 16, 1893, near St. Joseph, Mo. He retired from the Maytag Co. 23 years ago.

He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Kaldenberg of Oakland Acres and Kathryn O'Leary of Westminister, Colo.; one stepson, Lee Murray of McAllen; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Oliphant of Newton; and one sister, Blanche, of Fullmore, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Judith; his second wife, Ruth; four brothers and two sisters.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
