DALE SWATOSH

Dale F. Swatosh, 80, of Grinnell died of congestive heart failure Wednesday, July 29, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler. Pallbearers were Stacy Butler, Neal Griggs, Clinton Heishman, Richard Heishman, Sheri Lowe, Steve Lowe, and Dr. Phillip McCune.

He was the son of Frank and Carrie Palmer Swatosh and was born July 9, 1918, in Brooklyn. He was a 1938 graduate of Brooklyn High School.

He was married to Opal McConnell in July 1945 near Grinnell. They farmed near Brooklyn and Grinnell. In 1955, Mr. Swatosh became employed by Miracle Recreation Equipment Co. He retired in 1982.

Surviving are three daughters, Emily Ann Lowe of Grinnell, Joyce Swatosh of Grinnell and Cindy Powell of Joplin, Mo.; two sons, Duane of Jasper, Mo., and Claire of Joplin, Mo.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Marsh of Sebula.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his companion, Ruth Miller; one daughter, Judith Swatosh; one son, William; and three grandchildren.
