FRANCEINE F. DARRAH

Franceine F. Darrah, 84, of Grinnell died Saturday, Dec. 30 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service was conducted Wednesday at Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, with the Rev. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating.

She was born May 15, 1916, in New Sharon to James Harlen and Orva Geneva Hansell Carter. She was raised on a farm near Lacey and was a graduate of Lacey High School.

She was married to Herman Veerman, and the couple farmed near New Sharon. Following her husband's death, she was married to W.L. Darrah, and the couple lived in Oskaloosa where she worked as a nurse's aide at Mahaska County Hospital. They later lived in Eddyville. She moved to Grinnell in 1994.

Mrs. Darrah was a member of the United Methodist Churches in Eddyville and Grinnell.

She is survived by one daughter, Marabeth Van Ersvelde of Grinnell; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one brother, Omar Ververs; and one sister, Maxine Faulkner.
