JEAN TIBBEDEAUX

Jean Tibbedeaux,82, of Grinnell died Thursday, Nov. 17, at Friendship Manor.

A mass was held for Jean Tibbedeaux at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell with Father Maynard J. Brothersen of Davenport officiating. Burial was in Sheridan Cemetery in rural Malcom.

Phyllis Jean Tibbedeaux was born June 16, 1923, to William and Esther Haynes Schroeder of rural Tama. She grew up and attended schools there.

She married Melvin Zhorne in 1942, also in Tama. She lived n a farm near Traer for 28 years; in Mesa, Ariz., for 15 years; in Colfax for two years and in Newton for three years prior to moving to Grinnell seven years ago.

After the death of her first husband, she married Clemet Tibbedeaux in 1978 in Mesa.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, playing games such as cards and bingo, engaging in craft activities, gardening, and baking and cooking for family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Zhorne of Havelock and Kevin Zhorne of Parkersburg; her daughters, Barbara Eslinger of Kellogg, Carol Tuttle of Everett, Wash., Linda Cloud of Greenwood, Mo., and Lois Mast of Colfax; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Kriz of Toledo; and her brother, Gerald Schroeder of Oelwein.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands and a son, Mitchell Zhorne.
