The Grinnell (IA) Herald; March 10, 1914

DIED.

MRS. CLEON MASON.

Grinnell friends will be shocked to learn of the sudden death last Thursday, at her home in Long Beach, Calif., of Mrs. Cleon Mason, formerly Alma Van Dike. Death came almost entirely without warning. Mr. and Mrs. Mason were classmates from Grinnell College in 1909.

The Long Beach Press of last Thursday gives the following particulars:

"Friends of Mrs. Cleon Mason were shocked this morning to hear of her death, which took place unexpectedly at her home, 525 East State street.

"Mrs. Mason became ill two days ago, but was progressing nicely this morning, when her husband left for Los Angeles, where he is a teacher in the city schools, and at 7 o'clock, when Mrs. O.H.L. Mason left for a brief visit with Upland friends.

Her mother, Mrs. Van Dike, and a sister were at her bedside when she suffered an attack of neuralgia of the heart. A physician was summoned but was powerless to aid her and she passed away at 8:30 o'clock. Besides the husband a little daughter survives her. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

"Mrs. Mason came here, a bride from Belle Plaine, Iowa, two years ago, and had won a large circle of friends."
