AN OBITUARY
OF C.A. WADE

Clarence A., son of James C. and Harriet R. Leeman Wade, was born July 14, 1870 in Andalusia, Ill., departing this life after many months of mortal illness, from his residence in west Montezuma, in the evening of Monday, April 28, 1930, having attained the age of only 59 years, 9 months and 15 days.

His early life was spent in New Boston, Ill., where he finished high school. After taking summer school work at Valparaiso, Ind., he taught school around Preemption, New Boston and Viola, Ill.

For fifteen years he traveled for the Standard Oil company, coming back to Montezuma about nine years ago, entering the insurance business.

His first wife was Nellie McDonald of Grinnell, who preceded him to the beyond in 1918. On Nov. 13, 1920, he was united in marriage to Jean McDonald at Montezuma.

Mr. Wade was familiarly known upon our streets and esteemed for his sterling integrity as a business man. He was a member of several orders, including the A.F. & A.M., and of the O.E.S. at New Boston, Ill., of which chapter he was worthy patron for a number of years.

Surviving him besides his wife, are a brother, Lee, of New Boston, Ill., and twelve nephews and nieces.

Brief funeral services were conducted from the home, Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock by the Rev. W.F. Vanderlip, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the Grinnell cemetery, and the services both here and at the grave were largely attended. The services in Grinnell were in charge of the Masons.

At the services a quartet of Masons and long time friends of the deceased sang very sweetly. The quartet was composed of A.C. Heath, R.R. Kline, Forest Horsford and Walter Pollard. Pall bearers were: W.F. Jungck, Walter Bowers, Ross Bowers, Harlan Anderson, Harry Decatur and Dave Sutherland.--Montezuma Republican.
