LAST RITES SAID
FOR T.B. RAWLINGS

Funeral services were held at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at the Smith Funeral Home for Talmage Beecher (Slim) Rawlings, 73, of 319 Park St., who died early Saturday morning at his home following a lingering illness the past two years.

The Rev. Horace O. Schaffner, pastor of the Christian church, officiated at the services. Organist was Mrs. Willard Heffner.

Pallbearers were Bill Ahrens, Harold Heinle, Paul Heinle, Robert A. Johnson, Earl Lemke and Fred Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Haines Sr., Vic Vulysteke Sr. and Otto Fistler.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of John and Hattie Douglas Rawlings, Mr. Rawlings was born May 7, 1897 near Excelsior Springs, Mo. His family moved to Oklahoma when he was a young boy. They lived in Oklahoma for a year and then returned to Missouri where he received his education and training as a barber.

Mr. Rawlings continued to live in Missouri for a number of years. He also lived in Oelwein, Iowa, where he operated a barber shop.

During World War II, Mr. Rawlings worked in the shipyards at Oakland, Calif. In 1949 he moved to Grinnell and operated a barber shop on Main Street for 15 years until his retirement.

On Oct. 19, 1959, Mr. Rawlings married Lucille Thomann at Milan, Mo.

Survivors include his wife at the family home; two sisters--Mrs. Margaret Leighan of Meridian, Idaho, and Mrs. Mary Edith Murphy of Albuquerque, N.M.; and one brother, Forrest R. Rawlings of Albuquerque, N. Mex.

Mr. Rawlings was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers--John C., Walter C., Edwin and William Rawlings.
